Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American anchor for a television newscast and a commentary anchor for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. She started covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV program Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award presented by the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arms control, the budget tax and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
